You must tour several and you’ll find wines as diverse as the agricultural offerings of the area.

In fact, there are so many great wine cellars to visit. It’s difficult to select only one! While all our local wineries are worth a visit, here are three that I recommend:

House of Rose Winery: As the name implies, this winery specializes in roses. But you’ll also find sweet wines and dessert wines that will leave you wanting to return for another visit soon.

Meadow Vista Honey Wines Artisan Farm Winery: This winery has a mission to protect the local honeybee population. They are proud of their eco-friendly methods and strive to produce champion wines.

Summerhill Pyramid Winery: Summerhill is distinguished as the largest organic winemakers in Canada. They offer incredible views, fantastic wine, and advice on pairing wine and foods.

A Few Common Mistakes to Avoid when Moving Home

Moving home has been said to be one of the most stressful events of ones life. And it’s quite easy to make some common mistakes that are easily avoidable and if avoided you will cause less headache for yourself and those involved in helping you move.

I’ve made a list of the most common mistakes I’ve seen people make when moving.

Leaving Everything to Late!

By far this is the biggest one! Don’t be like Louis. Louis is a friend of mine that I helped move once. I arrived at his house on the day he asked for my help and asked him when the cleaners were coming for the end of tenancy cleaning. They literally pulled up in the driveway as I asked that question.

We had to quickly get everything out of the bathroom and tell them to start there while we frantically moved everything else into the living room so we could pack it up. In the end it all worked out but you should have seen the look on his face when he realised how much work was actually involved in moving.

Louis was under the impression that it was going to be a one hour job and then we’d relax to some beers. We started at 8am and were still going at 6pm that evening when we locked the house up and were packing up the last of the boxes.

Don’t be like Louis. Plan ahead and don’t procrastinate when you are moving homes.

Trying to be Cheap and doing a DIY Move

Lets be realistic here for a moment. Not everyone has the money for a full service moving company to come in and move their home. But there is a difference between a very cheap DIY and a cheap DIY.

Hiring a van or asking a friend to help you move with their van might seem like a good idea. But in reality it’s not and there really are some things worth paying for. You’ll be more stressed than when you started. If you are moving a long distance then being very cheap is an even worse idea.

A better idea is to hire a moving company that can offer a man and a van service like We Move and Clean, a home moving and relocation company. This is when a moving company offers a move budget service that offers a moving van or small truck plus a driver. The driver will also help you load up the truck. so you will still get the expertise of a moving company to help you pack the truck so nothing is broken but it will come at the fractions of the cost.

Not Labeling Boxes

One of the biggest mistakes if not labeling boxes. Now I get it. If you’ve got a 4 bedroom family home to move with the last 20 years worth of things you’ve collected then it’s easy to forget the little things. But this is once thing you can’t forget.

Imagine for a moment you get into your new home. You’ve hired a moving company to help you move homes and they have put everything into you living room for you. The moving company is now one their way back to their offices and you are happy that you are done. And then it hits you. There are 100 boxes in your living room and nothing is labelled. You suddenly realise that it’s going to take you a week to unpack everything as you have no idea what should go where.

This can easily be avoided. Just by a market and label what boxes goes where. Even if you even up with 100 boxes in your living room as you opted for a man with a van service and not full scale moving then at least you know what boxes need to go where.

Tips for Moving a Small Apartment

Living in an apartment comes with many benefits.

Your bills are cheaper, there is less cleaning to do. You always know where everything is as you don’t live in a big 4 bedroom house with extra rooms for storage. So overall if you like a more minimalist lifestyle with a small apartment can not only same you money but also give you peace of mind.

So how do you move a small apartment while keeping everything in order? As that is the point of living in a small apartment right!

Pack Clothes on Hangers

An easy way to pack clothes while keeping order is to just pack your clothes while still on hangers. Use a zip tie so you can keep 10 items together and then put a black garbage bag over the top.

Move Draws ‘As Is’

If you have chests of draws you don’t need to empty them just to put everything into boxes just to take everything out of those boxes when your move is complete. Of course this depends on what is in the draws. But as long as it’s just clothes or bulky items that can’t break you should be in the clear.

You can use saran wrap to go around the draws above fifty times. This will hold things in place and to get it that extra bit of security you can take some heavy packing tape and go around five times making sure to cover each draw.

Five minutes of work and your draws are ready to move!

Colour Code Boxes

This is not just a tip for moving apartments but in general for any moving. You can always label boxes for moving but another option is to get a colour coding system in place! Pick a colour for each room. For example red can be the bedroom and purple can be the kitchen. Buy some coloured dots at the local newsagent and put them on the boxes for each room.

This way when you have the moving company you hired take the boxes inside of your new place they can put the boxes where they should actually go. Just don’t forget to tell them about your creative little system.

Save Money with Towels and Bed Sheets

Even if you live in a small apartment you’ll have at at least 20 bed sheets and towel all up. You can easily save money, keep things in order and not have to create lots of wastage with packing materials that will be thrown out anyway by simply using you bed sheets and towels.

Anything that is fragile and needs to be protected in your move and be wrapped in towels and bed sheets before it’s boxed up. This will actually give you more protection than any packing material ever could.

So there you have it. If you follow these tips then you should be able move you small apartment and keep things in order so when you move into your new place everything stays in order.
