So how do you move a small apartment while keeping everything in order? As that is the point of living in a small apartment right!
Pack Clothes on Hangers
An easy way to pack clothes while keeping order is to just pack your clothes while still on hangers. Use a zip tie so you can keep 10 items together and then put a black garbage bag over the top.
Move Draws ‘As Is’
If you have chests of draws you don’t need to empty them just to put everything into boxes just to take everything out of those boxes when your move is complete. Of course this depends on what is in the draws. But as long as it’s just clothes or bulky items that can’t break you should be in the clear.
You can use saran wrap to go around the draws above fifty times. This will hold things in place and to get it that extra bit of security you can take some heavy packing tape and go around five times making sure to cover each draw.
Five minutes of work and your draws are ready to move!
Colour Code Boxes
This is not just a tip for moving apartments but in general for any moving. You can always label boxes for moving but another option is to get a colour coding system in place! Pick a colour for each room. For example red can be the bedroom and purple can be the kitchen. Buy some coloured dots at the local newsagent and put them on the boxes for each room.
This way when you have the moving company you hired take the boxes inside of your new place they can put the boxes where they should actually go. Just don’t forget to tell them about your creative little system.
Save Money with Towels and Bed Sheets
Even if you live in a small apartment you’ll have at at least 20 bed sheets and towel all up. You can easily save money, keep things in order and not have to create lots of wastage with packing materials that will be thrown out anyway by simply using you bed sheets and towels.
Anything that is fragile and needs to be protected in your move and be wrapped in towels and bed sheets before it’s boxed up. This will actually give you more protection than any packing material ever could.
